New York City NLAAD Press Conference 2025

Community partners and civic leaders will unite to observe National Latino AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) and emphasize the critical need for ongoing HIV testing promotion, effective prevention programs, expanded PrEP access, and enhanced care linkage and retention for individuals impacted by HIV.
An estimated 170,000 people in the United States are living with HIV and unaware of their status. This gap in diagnosis delays access to life-saving treatment and increases the risk of unknowingly transmitting the virus. By promoting testing, NLAAD aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and empower individuals to take control of their health.
The press conference at the steps of NYC City Hall will be headlined by:
- Erik Bottcher, New York City Council Member for District 3
- Adrianna Eppinger-Meiering, Senior Program Planner, Bureau of Hepatitis, HIV, and STIs, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
- Jonathan Rodriguez, Health Programs Manager, Hispanic Federation
- Guillermo Chacón, President, Latino Commission on AIDS
- Luis Mares, Director of Community Mobilization at the Latino Commission on AIDS
