National Latino AIDS Awareness Day 2020 – San Diego, CA

National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day is on Thursday, October 15, 2020. VIDA in collaboration with Latino Commission of AIDS, NLAAD, and AHF Clinic & Pharmacy Hillcrest San Diego along with some of San Diego leaders and community organizations to provide healthcare, education, and prevention methods information on AIDS/HIV/PrEP/PEP/STD, promote HIV testing, and the benefits of HIV treatment.  Please join us at Urban Mo’s 308 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92103 between the hours of 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Latinxs are the largest minority group in the United States and disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS. In 2013, Latinxs comprised 17% of the U.S. population or 54 million people, yet represented 23% of the HIV/AIDS cases that same year.  In 2013, there were an estimated 5,773 cases of AIDS diagnosed among Hispanics/Latinxs in the United States. Since the beginning of the epidemic, approximately 125,051 Latinxs have died from AIDS.
