“Despite the fact that the number of new HIV infections has decreased in the U.S. our community, the Latinx community, continues to be disproportionately affected by this epidemic and so HIV continues to impact the health of our communities. The impact can be directly related to social determinants and healthcare disparities. We need to continue to work advocating for better access to healthcare, education, better labor and immigration policies, and work to decrease the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV. The National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day and the Latino Commission on AIDS continue to work with different organizations around the country to address these issues while creating awareness about prevention and treatment of HIV, in the efforts to reduce the spread of HIV in our communities.”
