SUMMARY:NLAAD
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, October 15\, 2025\, National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day\, we came together to honor our stories — of strength\, love\, and resilience — and to speak up for our future.Latinx communities make up nearly 1 in 3 new HIV diagnoses in the U.S.\, yet too many still face barriers to care\, testing\, and prevention. The programs that keep us healthy and supported are now at risk. We’re standing together to say: our health\, our lives\, and our dignity are not negotiable.Protect HIV funding. Protect our communities.  #SaveHIVFunding #NLAAD

SUMMARY:NLAAD
DESCRIPTION:National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) is observed annually on October 15 to raise awareness about the disproportionate impact of HIV on Hispanic and Latino communities in the United States. HIV infection rates among Latinx individuals are higher than the national average. Factors contributing to this disparity include cultural stigma\, lack of access to healthcare\, and socioeconomic disparities. NLAAD aims to address these issues and improve HIV outcomes within the Latinx community.

SUMMARY:NLAAD
DESCRIPTION:October 15 is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD). On #NLAAD\, we highlight the disproportionate impact of HIV on our Hispanic/Latinx community. This #NLAAD\, let’s promote HIV testing\, stop HIV stigma\, and mobilize community efforts to prevent\, treat\, and stop the spread of HIV among Hispanic/Latinx individuals. \n\n\nIf HIV is not treated\, it can progress to AIDS. It is important that we quickly link those living with HIV to care and treatment to live long healthier lives and achieve an undetectable viral load- where the virus in your blood is so low that it can’t be detected and cannot be transmitted to others. While we’ve made significant strides in the fight against HIV/AIDS\, there’s still work to do.\n\n\n To learn more about HIV\, visit longbeach.gov/knowmore

SUMMARY:National Latine AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD)
DESCRIPTION:Today is National Latine AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) and the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month. We honor the resilience of the Latine community while demanding culturally and linguistically competent HIV/AIDS care. \nThe Disparity is Unacceptable:Latine individuals continue to be disproportionately impacted\, accounting for 28% of all new HIV diagnoses in the U.S. in 2021. Even more alarming\, HIV diagnoses increased by 24% for Latine people between 2010 and 2022\, while the overall national rate declined (KFF). \nThe Barrier is Systemic:\nLack of culturally and linguistically appropriate care\, immigration status\, economic insecurity\, and discrimination are the core barriers. These failures translate to: \nOnly 62% of Latine people with diagnosed HIV were linked to care (compared to 70% of non-Latine White people). \nOnly 54% of Latine people achieved viral suppression (compared to 65% of non-Latine White people). (CDC) \nHIV does not have to progress to AIDS. When the system fails to provide equitable care\, it is a failure of justice.

DESCRIPTION:The CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13-64 get tested for HIV at least once in their lifetime. Yet\, almost 55% of Latinos have never been tested. \nNational Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (#NLAAD) is a reminder of the importance of ensuring all communities have access to testing\, prevention\, and treatment that meets them where they are and as they are. SUMMARY:NLAAD
DESCRIPTION:October 15 is National Latinx HIV/AIDS Awareness Day\, and this year’s theme seeks to answer an important question: “Should you get tested for HIV? Yes!” Marked each year since 2003\, #NLAAD promotes effective ways to prevent\, treat\, and stop the spread of HIV among Latinos.\nThis year’s focus is to promote HIV testing. An estimated 170\,000 people in the United States are living with HIV and unaware of their status. This gap in diagnosis delays access to life-saving treatment and increases the risk of unknowingly transmitting the virus. At Chase Brexton\, we offer free\, fast\, confidential HIV testing at each of our centers daily – learn more at www.chasebrexton.org/POWER and https://lnkd.in/eCcXDVy5 health

SUMMARY:National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:Today is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD)\, a day to help stop HIV stigma and promote ways to address the disproportionate impact of HIV on Latinx communities. Racism\, discrimination\, xenophobia\, HIV-related stigma\, homophobia\, economic disparities\, a fragmented healthcare system\, and other longstanding barriers are key drivers of the disproportionate impact of HIV among Hispanic and Latino communities in the U.S. To end the HIV epidemic\, the nation must scale up HIV testing\, link people with HIV to care and treatment\, and ensure equitable access to HIV prevention—including PrEP—for everyone who could benefit. \n#NLAAD #StopHIVTogether #HIV #AIDS #CHCs #HCN #HCCNs #HIVPrevention #PrEP
