SUMMARY:NLAAD
DESCRIPTION:Today\, October 15th\, is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) which was first observed in 2003 by the Hispanic Federation and the Latino Commission on AIDS (LCOA). NLAAD is an opportunity to help address the disproportionate impact of HIV in Hispanic/Latinx communities\, promote HIV testing\, and stop HIV stigma. \nThis observance is also a community mobilization effort that helps promote effective ways to prevent\, treat\, and stop the transmission of HIV among Hispanic/Latinx people. \nNLAAD brings together communities\, service providers\, and organizations providing services to Hispanics/Latinxs throughout the U.S. and territories. This campaign is directed at the entire community but focuses on people with HIV. It urges them to choose one of the many available treatment options to maintain their health\, reach an undetectable viral load and stop the spread of HIV (treatment as prevention). \nPlease contact us at Info@AIDSCareOS.org for testing sites and more information.

SUMMARY:NLAAD
DESCRIPTION:Today October 15 is National Latinx HIV and AIDS Awareness Day ( #NLAAD )\, and I want to honor the life @ceciliagentili72 and countless other Latine advocates\, organizers\, artists\, and community members like @labamby @raifderrazi @granvarones @the_wall_las_memorias !! Cecilia helped shift care and resources needed for sex workers \, helped decriminalized sex work\, advocated for migrant undocumented people\, and led so many efforts for Trans health care and HIV/AIDS care. She was also a badass artist\, writer\, and performer. I want to remember her in this photo taken by @oscmdiaz 🌹 In these times when medical care and access is being stripped & defunded for many of our communities I lean into the power of community care and resources- which in lowest of times have held us in so many way!! \nThis years #NLAAD campaign theme is “Should I get tested for HIV? Yes!” ❤️There are so many local community led organizations and clinics that continue to offer free testing. Many of these sites are migrant and multi language friendly. And that’s what we need. HIV prevention strategies and treatments have to be culturally informed\, multi lingual for our Latine baddies that speak other languages outside of English\, and that are taking precautions to make sure people are feeling safe during these increase ICE raids. In our many Latine communities we still need to address and tackle HIV stigma- which gets in the way of folks getting treatment. According to the CDC Latine people account for 32% of the 37\,891 new HIV diagnoses in the United States in 2022. And this percentage continues to increase . Not only do we need to do our part to get tested but we need to encourage our community members to get tested too. And it doesn’t stop there\, we also need to continue to address all the barriers in health care that contribute to the HIV epidemic among Latine people. It means better health policies\, it means more funding\, it means supporting and lifting local efforts in the South ( which accounts for many of the new cases).

DESCRIPTION:October 15 marks National Latino AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD)\, a nationwide community initiative that promotes HIV testing\, prevention\, and access to HIV treatment within diverse communities\, addressing the unique health challenges faced by the Hispanic/Latino population.\n\n\nIn 2025\, NLAAD centers its efforts on HIV testing\, recognizing it as a critical step in ending the epidemic. An estimated 170\,000 people in the United States are living with HIV and unaware of their status. This gap in diagnosis delays access to life-saving treatment and increases the risk of unknowingly transmitting the virus.\n\n\nBy promoting testing\, NLAAD aims to raise awareness\, reduce stigma\, and empower individuals to take control of their health.\n\n\nCall 734-544-6700 to schedule a free HIV test! SUMMARY:NLAAD
DESCRIPTION:National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) is observed annually on October 15 to raise awareness about the disproportionate impact of HIV on Hispanic and Latino communities in the United States. HIV infection rates among Latinx individuals are higher than the national average. Factors contributing to this disparity include cultural stigma\, lack of access to healthcare\, and socioeconomic disparities. NLAAD aims to address these issues and improve HIV outcomes within the Latinx community.

SUMMARY:NLAAD
DESCRIPTION:October 15 is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD). On #NLAAD\, we highlight the disproportionate impact of HIV on our Hispanic/Latinx community. This #NLAAD\, let’s promote HIV testing\, stop HIV stigma\, and mobilize community efforts to prevent\, treat\, and stop the spread of HIV among Hispanic/Latinx individuals. \n\n\nIf HIV is not treated\, it can progress to AIDS. It is important that we quickly link those living with HIV to care and treatment to live long healthier lives and achieve an undetectable viral load- where the virus in your blood is so low that it can’t be detected and cannot be transmitted to others. While we’ve made significant strides in the fight against HIV/AIDS\, there’s still work to do.\n\n\n To learn more about HIV\, visit longbeach.gov/knowmore

SUMMARY:National Latine AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD)
DESCRIPTION:Today is National Latine AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) and the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month. We honor the resilience of the Latine community while demanding culturally and linguistically competent HIV/AIDS care. \nThe Disparity is Unacceptable:Latine individuals continue to be disproportionately impacted\, accounting for 28% of all new HIV diagnoses in the U.S. in 2021. Even more alarming\, HIV diagnoses increased by 24% for Latine people between 2010 and 2022\, while the overall national rate declined (KFF). \nThe Barrier is Systemic:\nLack of culturally and linguistically appropriate care\, immigration status\, economic insecurity\, and discrimination are the core barriers. These failures translate to: \nOnly 62% of Latine people with diagnosed HIV were linked to care (compared to 70% of non-Latine White people). \nOnly 54% of Latine people achieved viral suppression (compared to 65% of non-Latine White people). (CDC) \nHIV does not have to progress to AIDS. When the system fails to provide equitable care\, it is a failure of justice.

DESCRIPTION:The CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13-64 get tested for HIV at least once in their lifetime. Yet\, almost 55% of Latinos have never been tested. \nNational Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (#NLAAD) is a reminder of the importance of ensuring all communities have access to testing\, prevention\, and treatment that meets them where they are and as they are. SUMMARY:NLAAD
DESCRIPTION:October 15 is National Latinx HIV/AIDS Awareness Day\, and this year’s theme seeks to answer an important question: “Should you get tested for HIV? Yes!” Marked each year since 2003\, #NLAAD promotes effective ways to prevent\, treat\, and stop the spread of HIV among Latinos.\nThis year’s focus is to promote HIV testing. An estimated 170\,000 people in the United States are living with HIV and unaware of their status. This gap in diagnosis delays access to life-saving treatment and increases the risk of unknowingly transmitting the virus. At Chase Brexton\, we offer free\, fast\, confidential HIV testing at each of our centers daily – learn more at www.chasebrexton.org/POWER and https://lnkd.in/eCcXDVy5 health
